You read that right! I’m giving away free Engagement Sessions through the end of 2009!
I will literally do the shoot without charging a penny. Typically an engagement session costs $550.
Why are you doing this?
Because I’m confident that when you hire me as your engagement photographer we’ll have a good time…and that when you look at the photos on your online gallery, you’ll fall in love. And, when you fall in love, then you’ll hire me to do your wedding photography :)
Whether or not you hire me as your wedding photographer, you can buy prints or albums at a great price from the online gallery. If you DO hire me as your wedding photographer, then you’ll also get a high-resolution disc of all images (delivered at the same time as your wedding images).
What happens if I don’t like working with you? Or if I don’t like the photos?
C’mon…what’s the catch?
The only thing I ask is that you take advantage of the offer, NOT the photographer :)
If you already have a wedding photographer and have no interest in my services for your wedding, let me know. I’ll STILL do your engagement shoot at an insanely low price. How do you like THAT?!?

This could be you. Well, not really. Unless you're Andrew or Liz. Then it could be and probably is you.

This summer my husband Joey quit his job as a top-producing mortgage guy to join me in photography and homeschooling the kids. I recently sent him to be second photographer on a shoot in Colorado. Function of the the Creative Eye…awesome. Function of the Lungs…not so good. Altitude sickness! The first aid guy at Steamboat had to give him oxygen and take him on the gondola back down the mountain! (Sorry babe…it had to be told)
This is his first post here, so give him some love! - Jolynne
…………………………………………..
It’s true…Steamboat Springs is over 9,000 feet above sea level and I had just flown in from California the night before.
(Yes, advice-givers…I DID drink a LOT of water. Still got altitude sickness. Note to self: show up a couple days early to Colorado weddings!)
Still, it was all worth it to see Laurie and Patrick tie the knot in such a beautiful setting! AND to learn from Jared Wilson…who’s not only a world-class wedding photographer but a guy who will generously share all his secrets over sushi.
Okay, less talk and more rock: THE PICTURES…

While Laurie & Patrick were walking they saw this mirror…a good opportunity for a picture or two.

I love the look on Patrick’s face when he sees his bride coming down the aisle.

Laurie’s Grandmother is a priest in the Episcopal church. She was so excited and a bit nervous before performing the wedding ceremony…but you couldn’t tell during the ceremony. She did great!

I was so stoked that this next picture actually made it onto Jared’s blog!

This little muffin man is the ring bearer. But instead of making him bear the ring, they let the little guy roll around on the grassy hillside during the ceremony, which, let’s face it, is a LOT more fun :) Everyone was very happy and laid back at this wedding.

Laurie’s so proud to show off her wedding ring to a bridesmaid…and Patrick’s pretty proud, too, by the looks of it :)

I don’t think I’ve seen photos of the Bride with the Groomsmen before. What a great idea! This next is my favorite shot of the day. (mine, too! – jolynne)

Speaking of Groomsmen…nice neckties, boys.

Recently a photography company named Totally Rad Actions released Dirty Pictures, a way of using textures when you develop photographs. I haven’t done that before, so I thought I’d give it a try on the last two pics. The sunset at Steamboat Springs that night was one of the most vivid and colorful that I have ever seen.

Congratulations, Laurie and Patrick! Enjoy your lifelong love. And thanks for letting me play a small part in your big day!

This senior shoot was really special for me. I babysat Shelby and her brother, Broc, years ago when they were pipsqueaks. I loved those kids! And I still do.
The three us (Shelby, her brother Broc and I) set off on a photo adventure. I can’t even tell you how much fun we had. Because if I did, you would probably implode from happiness. I’m not joking…your body would literally cave in from the pressure of supernatural glee. It was that fun.
For example, see how beautiful and free and flowy she looks in this picture? She’s sitting on her brother. But more about THAT in another blog.
Meet Shelby.

Shelby is the perfect accessory to Diamond Valley Lake. Isn’t she gorgeous?! (Thanks, Shel for the $7 entrance fee ;)

I just love her dreamy eyes in these photos.

Shelby started workin’ it for the camera…and I just kept shootin’! She’s so cute :)

I think she looks so beautiful here.

Shelby! You are beautiful! And you make me smile. You have the sweetest spirit. I am so honored to be a part of your life. Thank you for being a shining example to your friends and the younger girls around you. And Broc…looking forward to your senior shoot next year! More fun to come!
Oh…and Broc and Shel… I can’t wait to tell the world about our new invention! Every photographers’ necessity! Shhhhhh! (That blog to come soon!! Broc-n Roll!!) Love you guys!!

You KNOW I am a detail girl…and this wedding had ‘em! WOW. I got to shoot yet another beautiful wedding with my good friend, Jared Wilson, as his second photographer, in Colorado.
The wedding was held at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Denver. Oh my GOSH!! The Cathedral, like Aimee and Shawn and their wedding, was totally beautiful!

Thank you, Aimee and Shawn for letting me be a part of your wedding!

So cute. Katrina and Jesse tied the knot at the Cielo at Castle Pines in Colorado…and I got to be there! My photography hero Jared Wilson asked me to join him in shooting this and another wedding that weekend. 17 hours of back-to-back wedding photography in a weekend. My new record! :)
This was the first of the two weddings. It was beautiful and very sweet.

I thought this was such a cute detail. The bridesmaids all had matching necklaces…in different colors. Katrina had one in white! (See hers above!)

The ring bearer was a munchy love. I just love this photo of him and his grandpa.

Bridesmaids who know how to boogie :)

Okay…this was so much fun! A S’mores Bar! Oh yes, this is my kind of wedding :)

Jared and I had to partake of course. You can’t pass up S’mores.

Thank you, Katrina and Jesse, for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

I loved shooting Deanna and Scott’s wedding! I will let the photos speak for the spirit and beauty of the day, but I will tell you…it was a PARTY! So much fun. And so many beautiful details. First…the gorgeous couple…

This was taken with my new Canon 35mm. Focus on those beautiful lashes…

Their son was part of the ceremony…what a cutie! He did NOT want me taking pictures of him! But once I had a few moments with him and showed him a photo of himself on my camera, we were buds. :) Mama held him a lot during the ceremony.

I sat and talked with Scott’s Grandma for a bit and I said, “You have a very loving family. You, know, that says a lot about you.” She responded with “Thank you, but it was my mother.” So precious.

The details I love…

The tiniest greatest detail ever…her hand on his bootie. I LOVE it!

Each table had a very different arrangement of flowers. They used fresh fruit in a lot of them. So unique.

Mariachi!

Deanna’s shoes! I don’t even need to elaborate.

I just love each of the kids’ expressions. Priceless.

Alright…now onto the PARTY! How cute is this? Scott wanted to help those bachelors out by making it easier to catch the garter. Hike!

And the girls! When Deanna’s bouquet magically split into three individual flowers, the competition was on!

Alright…I don’t believe you have ever seen dancing this amazing. Note…check out every persons’ expressions. AWESOME!

I love the robot pinky finger!

I love this. This is a photo of my second photographer Dale Hameister. It looks like he is her own personal photographer! She is workin’ it!

Deanna and Scott, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your amazing day! Congratulations!

Katrina and I were roommates in college, so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out she was gettin’ hitched and asked me to shoot her wedding! We hadn’t seen each other for 14 years! When I saw her it was like no time had passed. Katrina and Gary are absolutely adorable together. You can see the sparkle of l.o.v.e. in their eyes…

Can you feel the love? I love these next few shots. Katrina is a big fan of Disney…adorned with a Mickey tat on her ankle and a beaded Mickey on her veil! These next few shots remind me of a fairy tale. Go on…sing your fave romantic Disney tune while scrolling along. “I know you…lalalala….once upon a dream…”

So dang cute, I tell you. Katrina and Gary had a fun and genuinely kind collection of friends. We had a blast together! I have to tell you that there were some knee slaps during this shoot. They were havin’ a GOOD time!

I love the wild look in the cutie ring bearer’s eyes!

Dale Hameister was my second photographer for Katrina and Gary’s wedding. The next two photos are by him. Thanks for doing a great job, Dale!

I like how Dale’s fish eye lens captures the whole scene of the announcement here.

Proud parents of the groom.

Oh…and just a few more fun ones from the day!

Congratulations Gary and Katrina! You are off to a great start! Love and laugh! And always remember the Author of Life in your sweet life together!

I absolutely LOVED shooting Quang and Nicole’s wedding. The venue was a photographer’s dream. The historic Berkeley City Club right in the middle of downtown Berkeley…Wow! But the most amazing part was Quang and Nicole. They are just beautiful people! So loving and generous, and absolutely gorgeous as you will see. And those two, I tell you, had the loviest group of friends I have ever met. Lots of hugs and laughs!

Nicole’s dress was perfect. It had a beautiful vintage feel to it, matching of course, the incredible venue. She was a stunning bride.

I love the sweet excitement in her face.

And the handsome groom.
Take a look at these guys.
Remember the part about Hugs and Laughs?

There were so many unique parts to this whole experience. Here are some traditions you don’t see everyday! Handfasting, Jumping the Broom, and a Dragon Dance at the reception. ( Which by the way was a surprise from Nicole to Quang!)

Some nice details :)

Thank you, Quang and Nicole, for the honor of shooting your wedding! May you always run through the sprinklers, skip through town, laugh hysterically and hold hands forever.
